Research Post: Requirements for Service-Centric Systems
Centre for HCI Design
City University, London
___________________________________________________
The EU-funded SeCSE Integrated Project is a
four-year, ¤10m project that is researching
service-centric systems engineering. The project
began in October 2004. After a successful review
in 2005 the project is expanding its team, and a
new post is available to join the project at City
University from month 18 onwards. SeCSE's mission
statement is to create new methods, tools and
techniques for systems integrators and service
providers that support the cost-effective
development and use of dependable services and
service-centric applications. City is responsible
for research and development in the area of
service discovery - the retrieval of candidate
software services from external registries during
the development and deployment of service-centric
applications. Key partners include Lancaster
University and the Politecnico di Milano, and
Fiat, DaimlerChrysler, Telecom Italia,
Telefonica, Engineering, and Computer Associates.
The Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design
leads SeCSE's research to develop new processes,
algorithms and tools for early service discovery,
that is discovering services during the
requirements phase, both to explore the
feasibility of a service-centric solution, but
also to inform and revise requirements in light
of new candidate services.
We are looking for a researcher capable of
continuing the design, implementation and testing
of SeCSE's service-centric discovery environment.
Knowledge of service-centric computing,
requirements engineering and systems evaluation
is also sought, as are good academic presentation
skills.
Although this post is full-time, we will welcome
applications from candidates who wish to work
flexible or part-time hours. In return, we offer
a comprehensive package of in-house staff
training and development, and benefits that
include a final salary pension scheme.
Further particulars and an application form can
be downloaded from www.city.ac.uk/hr/jobs.

Department, City University, Northampton Square,
