Dear friends
The homophobia of some 'old guard' occultists such as Dfortune, KGrant,
GKnight etc etc is well documented. The 'fightback' started with the
'children' of the nu-isis lodge in the late 1980s, in which i like to think
i played some small part with the publication of
my own polemic as Katon Shual - 'Sexual Magick'*, which is itself quoted as
a source in the excellent Randy Conner's 'Blossoms of Bone' and
'Encyclopedia of Queer Myth & Legend'.
Ronald Hutton later wrote in his book (Triump of the Moon) that the UK wicca
was radicalised by its contact with american witches such as starhawk - and
there is some truth in this - but i recon reduction of the 'mr and mrs'
school of wicca was a 'pincher' movement.
Further amunition comes from Jan Fries' studies of ancient magic - where he
first began casting doubt on whether 'fertility' was the only big issue for
ancient magical cultures . All this, has in the end, changed the nature of
the UK occult scene.

of any of the existing companies to publish this kind of material.

I remember some quite virulent homophobic attidudes in the same circles;
wicca/paganism is a fertility religion therefore you can't be gay and pagan.
I havnt noticed it so much these days, but I have heard second hand that it
still happens. It seems to be more accepted in shamanic paths, where the
gender/sexuality blurring seems more acceptable.
