Yes, I did publish my M R James paper, in 'Folklore'
in 1995 (or 96?). If you tell me your mailing address
I could send you an offprint. I was the first person
to spot his use of folklore material; most people saw
him mainly as an antiquarian. The first thing I
noticed was his use of a Danish idea about a staked
ghost whispering 'you pull, I'll push' when someone
touches the stake, and then, looking closer, I saw
quite a lot more. I've loved his stories since
childhood!
Ghosts & Scholars is now mainly devoted to publishing
a twice-yearly newsletter-cum-pamphlet on topics
related to MRJ. Various past publications are still
