"Vigil planned over mental health cuts"
MENTAL health patients and staff will be standing
shoulder-to shoulder at a silent vigil to draw attention to proposed cuts.
The vigil in the centre of Cambridge will be held
four days before decisions are made on which cuts will go ahead.
It has been organised by the office of Cambridge
MP David Howarth, who will be one of those
attending the hour-long event on Saturday,
January 21, at 11am, and will specifically
highlight issues surrounding the Young People's Service (YPS).

The YPS therapeutic community faces closure after
a 30-year history. Members of the scheme, which
helps young people with problems including
anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and eating
disorders, are campaigning to keep it going and have set up an online petition.

There is less than a week left of a public
consultation into the proposed cuts, with the
deadline for responses set as noon on Friday.
