Might I ask you to circulate the following conference notice to the
HEALTH-EQUITY-NETWORK list, in the hope that subscribers will find it of
interest? I would be most grateful.

Conference notice and call for papers
On 16 March 2006 a one-day conference entitled "Socio-economic aspects of
disability" will be held at the Università d'Annunzio, Pescara, Italy. The
purpose of the Conference is to provide a forum in which disability may be
studied from various angles to create synergies in analysis and policy.
The Conference aims particularly to foster collaboration between economists and
sociologists on a topic which is too often discussed ad hoc, with little regard
for general principles or structural policies. Contributions are invited on
themes related to the aims of the conference, including:
- Public policies towards disability, and how to assess their effectiveness
- Invalids and the labour market: the point of view of workers, employers, and
employment officers
- Socio-economic status of families with invalids, with particular reference to
social and economic difficulties
Contributions may be in English or Italian.
