Dear All,
Authors of papers in these volumes can also share
their full papers using BoneCommons. It's a good idea
because "self-archiving" papers increases their impact
and citation rate
(http://www.eprints.org/openaccess/self-faq/).
We're also getting emails from several individuals in
the developing world without access (or budgets) to
good library resources, and making this
material more available is important for them.
Anyway, I am an author in the Integrating
Zooarchaeology volume. I recently posted a link to my
paper in BoneCommons:
http://www.alexandriaarchive.org/icaz/icazForum/viewforum.php?f=3.
It's already had over 50 views and it's only been up
there a week! This is a great way to share research!
A note-- Publishers generally allow authors to put
their papers on their own personal webites without any
copyright problems. You can announce your paper on
BoneCommons, put the abstract there, and then put a
link to it from there. You can also put a "preprint"
of your paper before it's published.
In some cases, you can even upload the entire
published paper (BoneCommons has space for you to
attach files), but check with the publisher first!
Also, if we get enough interest in people wanting to
self-archive their papers, we'll migrate everything to
an EPRINTS system, which will give enhanced search
functions.
