Web Systems Developer
Salary £28,554 p.a
This is an exciting opportunity for a Web Programmer to assist with the
creative design and technical development of the Unit’s web-enabled
applications and web site(s). The successful candidate will build on the
existing web services of the Unit and will work closely with senior
scientists and external collaborators to ensure that services fully meet
their requirements. They will be responsible for the design and
implementation of web-enabled applications and of web sites that allow
content management by non-technical staff.
The MRC Clinical Trials Unit undertakes national and international
studies to assess the value of medical interventions in a variety of
disease areas including cancer, HIV and other diseases.
Within the Unit there are several clinical trial studies that will be
using web-based services to recruit patients and to collect data and you
will be expected to play a key role in the development of these services.
Requirements:
·Degree in a computing-related subject
·Minimum of three years’ relevant experience
·Ability to demonstrate achievements in the development of clear and
user friendly web site design
·Strong programming skills
·An understanding of Internet-related technology, web-enabled database
systems and client-server programming
·Expertise in the security issues surrounding Internet development is
essential
·Awareness of web standards and legislation applicable to websites
·Visual design skills and understanding of usability
·Customer focus
·Excellent communication skills and in particular, the ability to
communicate with non-technical people
·Ability to effectively gather user requirements
·Project management experience
·Ability to work with minimal supervision
·Ability to demonstrate initiative
·An appreciation of the work of the MRC CTU's activities
Salary includes Location Allowance and Central London Supplement.
The salary is dependent on skills and experience and will be negotiable
for exceptional candidates. Benefits include 30 days annual leave and
final salary pension scheme.
