UK GOVERNMENT ITS 'VISIONS' COMPETITION

RULES

On the occasion of the 13TH World Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems and Services, being held at ExCel London from 8 to 12 October 2006, the Department for Transport is organising an "ITS 'Visions' Competition for academic students.

The Competition

The competition test is to create a computer-based representation showing how ITS techniques and services might contribute positively to daily life for all classes of travellers in 2015.

Presentations can be built up using cartoons, animations, PowerPoint shows, videos, simulations sound, etc in any combination. Videos must use either Windows Media Player or QuickTime software and run for no more than 10 minutes.

The winning entries will be displayed at the ITS World Congress in London in October 2006.

Eligibility

The competition is open to any post-graduate student who wishes to submit an entry on behalf of their University. University is taken to mean any academic institution or similar body granting post-graduate degrees. There is no limit on how many entries any one University may make.

Entry Process

The closing date for receipt of entries by the Department for Transport is 17:00 on 1 July 2006.

Entries must be submitted on non-rewritable CDs. Five copies of each entry should be sent to Cathy Jenkins, DfT ITS World Congress 2006 Co-ordinator, Zone 2/03, Great Minster House, Department for Transport, 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DR. Proof of postage will not be taken as proof of delivery.

All entries will retain Intellectual Property Rights but by entering the competition agree to allow the Department for Transport unrestricted permission to show an entry in full or in part in support of Departmental policies.

Judging

The competition entries will be judged by an International Panel of ITS and transport experts chaired by Professor Eric Sampson, Head of Transport and Technology Division, Department for Transport.
