I've been managing without broken glasses for some time now so have another
experience of what it means to be involuntarily partially disabled and it
has become clear how much difference local knowledge makes. Trying to do
something you haven't done before becomes just that much more difficult.
For about twenty years I have put off visiting Stourhead except by motorism
as I thought it was simply too difficult. In part I was confused by a
salisbury anchor which was false.
Now I have cracked it and it is quite simple but in the process I found the
following chunking and clumping components which simply made it more
difficult than it needed to be. I have simply listed them, along with a
comment on when the new ICT makes a difference. But i have also noted the
core limit: you need to have the answer to ask the question.
1. SWT timtables chunk Surbiton in the wrong place. Pocket 20 then needs
work
2. salisbury westbury isn't in the same lot at all
3. westbury frome isn't either
4. Salisbury romsey is the other way
5. Taunton quite different
(Some of these are not directly Stourhead but regional and took up time
while waiting. Some of these would be cracked by the network rail web site
provided you knew these the terms.)
6. Bus interchange Gillingham
7. Bus interchange Templecombe
8. Zeals bus stop walk
9. Bourton bus stop, wlak, shelter, timetables
Each of these would require a paragraph if not a chapter of explanation.
