CERTIFICATE IN RAILWAY STUDIES BY DISTANCE LEARNING
CERTIFICATE IN TRANSPORT HISTORY BY DISTANCE LEARNING
The Institute of Railway Studies and Transport History still has some
places left for students on these 2 year Certificate courses. See
http://www.york.ac.uk/inst/irs/irshome/academic/academic.htm
The IRS&TH is a joint initiative of the University of York and the National
Railway Museum and students have access to the many resources of both.
Although the courses are by 'distance learning' - and we do have students
in Australia and Uzbekhistan - we also have students resident in York. The
'distance' aspect enables you to complete the studies in your own time
while meeting normal, though flexible, University deadlines.
Previous educational qualifications are unnecessary for application. A
good pass on the Certifcate will entitle you to be considered for a place on
the taught MA in the IRS&TH, should you wish to pursue studies further.
The course is considered to be very enjoyable by students who have taken it
and it will deepen and enhance your professional knowledge, approaching the
history of all transport modes (Certificate in Transport History) or the
railway (Certificate in Railway Studies) from a variety of historical
perspectives.
