EVERYDAY THANKSGIVING
Bush in late afternoon shadow scrolls handwriting on wall.
Leaves like gold nuggets dance to earth
sky laden with gray heaviness like woman heavy with child.
Autumn rings its toll in carillon sound
proclaiming Day of Thanksgiving throughout land.
But every day sings of my thanksgiving to G-d –
good health like manna rains in daily life
as children voices laugh in falling wind
angels disguised as strangers extend helping hand
while sun sparkles at play in hide’n’seek sky
work never bores but generates poems
other mind pictures
even dog screeches unconditional love
as innocent as newborn babe’s first smile and
friends ring with welcome dinner invitations
abundant as clouds gathered on celestial ceiling.
With these blessings I am grateful and offer
every day thanksgiving day in proclamation to
G-d.
