I really like this Bob, It is like a stream of consciousness letting the
words speak. Almost as if we as poets have nothing to do with the compostion
of a poem. And this is how I think poetry should be. I think it was Don
Paterson who said "poems should come naturally are not at all" . Which goes
against some academic thinking I know.
Yes it is quiet Bob and I have to admit that I have joined another list as I
do need my daily fix of poetry and comments with others as I spend quite a
lot of time on my own since my husband died and children grown and flown the
nest. I am not always well enough to go out sometimes so welcome the banter
and poetry. I will post my latest scribbling here too later. Bw Sally J

>I open the door of a word
>and walk down the path of what I’m saying.
>I hear each step, feel the gravel,
>reach the crisp pavement then stroll
>to go where I’m going. Walking is noisy
>and this is the way I go from where I began
>to where I’ll end up. I don’t think
>where my feet will fall or, if I pause,
>where I’ll stand. I just keep moving.
>I don’t linger, as you are doing now
>to think is this what happens in a poem.
>When I get there I will reach another door.
>Though solid it’s not a full stop. It can open.
>Inside there’ll be more doors, noisy corridors,
>perhaps silence. It’s where I want to be.
