Pause
The jaguar ebony coated and emerald eyed
lurks on our mantelpiece like a parlor sentinel
He does not ravage but fixates with third eye
A wall concrete and lofty divides neighbors
Ivy creeps but cannot climb the rough facade
I watch from the window as hummingbirds skim
Wild gold nasturtiums and ruby poppies crawl
up the hill like planets and stars altered states
The sky shimmers azure in the noon sun
I miss you the comfort of caressing arms
the flicker of fingertips
your kisses thundering and deep as the sea
The jaguar witnesses the time I wait
for you moments eternal as God
The sky and the earth remain the same
