Hi, Jorge,
This is how I see it:
SPM2 (assume we are talking SPM2) has an undocumented capability to
"read-in" ECAT image files. It never says that it can directly convert ECAT
file into some other format, like SPM2's default format - ANALYZE.
But, doing some trick, you can "convert" ECAT into ANALYZE. The basic idea
is to read in the ecat file and do something that will output some result.
For example, you can use the "ImCalc" to "work on" your ECAT file, give an
output filename, give, say, "i1" as a dumb evaluation function, and hit
<enter>. SPM2 will generate an identical image file but in ANALYZE format
in the same directory as your original ECAT file. This is totally done in
SPM2's existing GUI.
Hope this helps,
James Yu

Subject: [SPM] ECAT Conversion seems not to work
Hello all
I have some ECAT Siemens files and I hope to convert
them to spm compatible image volumes.
I have tried with the spm ECAT import option but no
file is written to any directory, actually (unlike
DICOM import option) there is no way (by GUI) to
indicate an output directory so I below the new .img
files would be written to the same directory as the
ECAT files, but nothing is there.
Any help is welcome
Thank you in Advance
Jorge
