Second Call Re-Instatement
Dear All,
As we all know, the biennial space syntax symposium brings together the whole
research community to share their current research and to discuss ideas. Over
the years, it has proven itself to be a stimulating and mind enhancing event
for all who attended. Moreover, the proceedings have been a very significant
academic resource in the field as the Symposia have always been fully refereed.
Therefore, we do understand the anxieties about the suggestion that we might
not have reviews for full papers for the Istanbul Symposium.
It is with pleasure to inform the research community that the International
Steering Committee has agreed to work towards maintaining the high standards
set in previous symposia. Accordingly, both abstracts as well as the full
papers submitted will be blind peer reviewed. It has also been decided that for
an accepted paper to be published in the conference proceedings, at least one
author is required to register before end of the date to be determined for
early bird registration.
As before, contributors are invited to submit an abstract of about 200 words for
short-papers, and 400 words for papers in English, addressing the topic
consistent with the themes of the symposium. Abstracts should state clearly the
aims and objectives of the paper, the context and background literature, the
method of inquiry or argument, the findings, conclusions, the applicability to
the field, and the work to be done next. In the case of papers on recently
completed doctoral research, the authors should clearly state the status of
their data and work. The references should also be included at the end of the
abstracts. The word count of the references will not be included as part of the
abstract.
The deadline for the submission of all categories of papers is 30th September
2006.
Full papers will be due by 19th January 2007 to be included in the printed
proceedings by those authors whose work has been positively reviewed by the
International Refereeing Committee. For submissions, the names of the authors,
their e-mail address, their postal address, telephone numbers and institutional
affiliations must be indicated on a separate front page of the papers. In all
cases, the first author will be treated as the "contact person" for the paper.
The format for electronic versions of the papers will be distributed to those
whose paper will be accepted by the refereeing committee.
Here are the Important Deadlines;
September 30th, 2006 : Submission of Abstracts for all categories of papers
November 15th, 2006 : Notification of Abstract Acceptance
January 19th, 2007 : Submission of Full Papers
March 1st, 2007 : Notification of Full Paper Acceptance
As we had informed before, our web site in which you can find all the
information, forms and instructions necessary for the symposium is ready.
This web page, www.spacesyntaxistanbul.itu.edu.tr will be continuously updated
to reflect the latest information available so that it becomes a useful
resource in the period leading to the symposium as well as after.
We would like to emphasize the importance of deadlines in order to finalize the
whole process. You will find an updated version of symposium details as an
attached file. We are also sending the symposium poster in order to be
distributed in your university.
I would like to thank you for your constructive comments and contributions.
With warm regards,
Professor Ayse Sema Kubat
Chairperson of 6th International Space Syntax Symposium
