Are you at the start of, or in the middle of creating a social
simulation and would value feedback and ideas about how to proceed?
This Advanced Simulation Workshop is an opportunity to spend an
intensive week working on your simulation with others in a helpful and
friendly group.
The workshop will be held at the University of Koblenz, at the
confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers in Germany from the evening
of Monday 3rd April to the morning of Friday 7th April, 2006.
Koblenz is within easy travelling distance of Frankfurt and Amsterdam
and is next to the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Middle Rhine
Valley.
Overview
The workshop starts on a Tuesday, April 4, 2005, (after a get-together
meeting the evening before) with short oral presentations of the
participants' projects and comments from the organisers . There will
be small group meetings in the afternoon, where participants with
similar interests will discuss their work.
On Wednesday and Thursday we meet in plenary sessions in the morning
with progress presentations and with presentations of completed
projects, and in group sessions in the afternoon (with an excursion to
a castle in the neighbourhood of Koblenz and an evening in one of the
local vineries).
On Friday morning there will be a final plenary session with final
reports from the groups, finishing at noon.
Workshop fees are 150 EUR, to be paid by bank transfer before the
workshop or in cash at the beginning of the workshop. They include the
two social events and lunch every day in the university restaurant.
How to apply
All applications should be accompanied with a two-page description of a
simulation model you would like to run and discuss during the workshop.
This description should obey the following instructions:
Describe the target system (if there is one -- otherwise describe why
you want to run a more abstract simulation) and the entities and their
properties (and relations between them) you want to model. Describe
which toolbox you have already tried out to make your model run (if
any). If there are any references in the literature or on the
Internet, please give bibliographical references and/or web links. Send
all this to [log in to unmask] AND [log in to unmask]
We shall be able to suggest accommodation etc. on receipt of your
registration. Because places are limited, applications are advised as
soon as possible.
