SLIC is pleased to announce that the 2006 call for proposals is open.
Bids which address the current priorities are invited from member
organisations.
This year’s call focuses on 4 areas:
1) 2020: Speculation on 2020 was born out of the deliberations of the
Cultural Commission and SLIC invites cross sectoral bids that envision
the future role of libraries.
2) Content: Although SLIC will not fund content creation bids in this
call, we are interested in proposals which address content management,
sharing of content and the relationship between promoting content and
increasing use of resources.
3) Access: invites bids which examine access in its broadest sense
from innovative use of technology which improves access to services to
developing implementation programmes for information handling which
promote better access for independent learners
4) Workforce development: This area invites bids which relate to how
training and development can advance and improve service for the end
user. It could include looking at transformational leadership, skills gaps
and shortages, explore new skills against service needs and expectations
or identify good practice in training and development.
Funding will be considered for a range of activities including, research,
impact analysis, service development, staff training, creation of new
resources for pilot and evaluation of new technology, case studies,
preparation of good practice guides or promotion of standards.
Proposals should arrive in the SLIC Office, at the address shown above, no
later than Friday 28th April 2006.
