Lecturer in Sociology (1-year contract)
The Department of Sociology at National University of Ireland, Cork offers a
one-year, full-time, contract position as Lecturer in Sociology for the
academic year 2006-7. The department offers a complete programme from BA to
PhD. Its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes cover a wide range of
theoretical and empirical research traditions. It offers undergraduate
courses on social theory and critical theory, research methodology,
globalization and development, historical sociology, media, the family
gender and sexuality, criminology, urban life, the environment, ethnicity,
religion, political sociology, community. At postgraduate level it offers a
taught MA with research streams and seminars in the following areas
(Sociology, Society and Mass Communications; Health, Civilisation and
Sustainable Development; Sociology of the Public Sphere; Irish Society;
Sociology of Development and Globalisation) and the MPhil and PhD degrees.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Sociology, or equivalent in refereed
publications.
Closing date for applications: Monday July 17, 2006
Salary scale (new entrants): EUR33,895 - EUR55,061. Salary will be at a
point on this scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
