BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This is a key role working on an exciting project for the Science Museum.
This post-holder will monitor progress and ensure the smooth development
of up to half of the hands-on interactive exhibits for the Museum’s new
Launch Pad gallery.
The New Launch Pad is the priority project for the delivery of the Science
Museum’s Master Plan. The existing Launch Pad gallery is the Museum's most
popular gallery and is being redeveloped and relocated to be bigger and
better than ever before. Fifty new interactive exhibits will be created to
appeal to a wider audience and will be linked to the Science Museum’s
collections. It is vital that the new exhibits are conceived, tested and
built to the highest possible standards.
The Exhibit Contracts Assistant will have an understanding of interactive
exhibit development processes and experience of administering a number of
contracts simultaneously. The post holder will administer up to half of
the new Launch Pad exhibit contracts ensuring that the interactive
exhibits are delivered on time, to budget and meet the standards and
aspirations of the Museum.
The main responsibilities will include:
· Ensuring that contractors understand what is required by the
exhibit briefs
· Monitoring and reporting progress by contractors of these exhibits
· Assisting in the evaluation of prototypes of new exhibits,
providing rigorous research data that contributes to their development
· Ensuring that key internal stakeholders are kept informed of
exhibit development so that appropriate feedback can be fed back to
exhibit contractors
The successful candidate should have:
· Recent experience of interactive exhibit development
· Experience of working with a range of contractors
· Experience of managing a number of contracts simultaneously
· Experience of working with exhibition designers
· Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a wide range
of contacts at different levels and confidence with new people
· Proven ability to work as part of a team
· Self-motivation
· Excellent scheduling and organisational skills
· Excellent time management and ability to prioritise
· Proven ability to identify problems and use pre-agreed processes
to find solutions
