Operations Coordinator, Lab in a Lorry
Fixed term contract for 7 months, to start September 2006
Salary £18,000 per annum pro rata, plus benefits
The post holder will work from home when not travelling with the Lab
The Institute of Physics is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated physical
sciences graduate to join its physics in society team as an operations
coordinator for Lab in a Lorry.
Lab in a Lorry is an interactive mobile physics laboratory which provides
young people with the opportunity to do experimental physics with
experienced scientists providing guidance. The post-holder will be
responsible for the smooth running of a deployed Lab including maintenance
of experimental equipment, liaising with hosts and volunteers, contributing
to the development of future experiments and arranging regional tours. Lab
in a Lorry is a partnership between the Institute of Physics and the
Schlumberger Foundation.
Applicants should have a degree in a physical science subject, the ability
to enthuse volunteers and students, excellent communication and teamwork
skills and an interest in science communication.
