An event that might interest some of you:
SENSTER
=======
7:45pm 10, 11 and 12 May
Friends' Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton
This highly unusual theatre show features actors and musicians
working live with artificial life.
Senster is a cabaret for adults, with a very scary story thrown in.
At pivotal moments in the show, the audience will see and hear
artificial life performing alongside actors and musicians on the
stage. The artificial life consists of electronic creatures that
move, change shape or otherwise respond to people's sounds and actions.
Senster has been made possible by a Wellcome Trust Engaging Science
People Award. Over the last few weeks, I've been co-devising the show
with script writer and theatre director Linda Cotterill and a small
group of Brighton-based actors, musicians and programmers. I'm also
planning a small study on the back of this project, exploring
audience and cast members' experience of the artificial life in the
show. This is part of my doctorate research in the Centre for
Computational Neuroscience and Robotics at the University of Sussex.
Tickets from Brighton Dome box office 01273 698809 (£6/£5). If you
fancy a good night out in Brighton and a chance to experience some
highly unusual science theatre, then here's some more information
about the show:

And if you'd like to know a little more about the thinking behind the
project, you can read the press release at www.spacedog.biz/
press.html. You can also write to me offlist or give me a call on
