The Health and Social Care Modelling (HSCMG website: www2.wmin.ac.uk/hscmg),
based at the University of Westminster, Cavendish School of Computer
Science, offers several PhD study opportunities. Fee waivers and/or
maintenance stipends are also available for suitable applicants.
Potential PhD projects include, but are not restricted to:
- Development of a queuing network framework for modelling healthcare
systems
- Data mining of routinely collected healthcare data, e.g. hospital episode
statistics
- Modelling of neonatal intensive care networks
Proposals in other areas of operational research and statistics are also
welcome, provided they fall within the interest and expertise of the HSCMG
(visit www2.wmin.ac.uk/hscmg).
Candidates will be expected to have a Good Honours Degree (2:1 or above) or
its foreign equivalent, and preferably Masters Degree in Operational
Research, Statistics, and/or other relevant areas of Mathematical and
Computer Sciences, including Engineering and Business studies. An interest
in health care related issues is desirable. Candidates should also be able
to demonstrate ability to undertake independent high-level research, and
preferably have some previous research experience.
