Dear List,
I'm about to go off line for a while, but one of the many interesting
things to come up in Sydney and Brisbane was the fact that yet again
organisations 'other than' visual art galleries are the ones supporting
new media. In Sydney, the Powerhouse, a science museum (Thanks Hannah
for your useful comments!), and in Brisbane, the fabulous new library
building, showing the Multimedia
Art Asia Pacific exhibition

The library staff were very supportive, and it emerged from the
symposium that Library staff know a lot of useful things - they know
about research, about interacting with their public, about dealing with
data, with archiving, and they also are inherently anti-censorship.
Are libraries (as well as Science Museums)the perfect venue for new
media art?
yours,
Beryl
