The Commonwealth Scholarship Comission has just announced the latest round
of its Professional Fellowships Programme (2006-7). This supports
programmes of professional development in the UK designed to have a
catalytic effect in developing skills that will subsequently be applied in
a developing Commonwealth country. Funding is provided typically for
programmes lasting 3 months, although shorter and longer programmes will
be considered. Priority will be given to programmes providing professional
development opportunities in the fields of education, engineering,
environment, governance, public health and technology (these fields are
defined very broadly).
Applications are invited from public, private or voluntary sector
organisations in the UK seeking to host such visits. They should devise a
coherent and relevant programme and identify suitable recipients.
Fellowships cover the full cost of travel to the UK, living expenses, some
UK travel and other approved short course and conference expenses, and a
contribution to host organisation costs.
