Raymond and Beverly Sackler Laboratory for Astrophysics
Leiden Observatory, University of Leiden, The Netherlands
----------------------------------------------------------
Deadline: March 15, 2006
A 4-year PhD position is available at the Sackler Laboratory for
Astrophysics at Leiden Observatory. The aim of the PhD project
is to characterize products that are formed by atomic beam bombardment
in interstellar ice analogues under ultra-high vacuum laboratory
controlled conditions at low temperatures, using desorption (TPD) and
infrared (RAIRS) spectroscopic techniques.
A close interaction with astronomical observations of star-forming
regions is envisaged.
We are looking for an enthusiastic student with a strong experimental
background and experience with ultra high vacuum equipment.
The project is supervised by Dr. H. Linnartz and Prof. dr. E. F. van
Dishoeck at Leiden observatory. Visit http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl
for further information.
The position is funded by The Netherlands Research School for Astronomy
(NOVA), a national association of university astronomy departments,
and is part of the NOVA program `Astrophysics: Unravelling the History
of the Universe'. See for details: http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl/nova/
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of
research experience, and the names of two persons who can act as a
reference.
The deadline for the application is March 15th, 2006. The position
