A fully funded postdoctoral position at the Department of Chemistry,
Technical University of Denmark, within the topic:
Detection of dynamical non-equilibrium structures via X-ray scattering
New developments in the generation of ultrashort pulses of X-rays open
fascinating possibilities for the observation of the transformation of
matter. The transformation can be observed in real time in a pump-probe
experiment where the ultrafast dynamics is initiated by a femtosecond
laser pulse, and where the subsequent dynamical non-equilibrium structures
are detected, at various time delays, by the scattering of ultrashort
pulses of X-rays.
The position is available in the group of Klaus Braagaard Møller and
Niels Engholm Henriksen. Our group is the host of the “system modeling
and theory group” of the new “Center for Molecular Movies”
(http://cmm.nbi.dk), a joint venture with the nearby University of
Copenhagen, where the research focuses on the creation/control and
detection of dynamical non-equilibrium structures on the femtosecond
timescale.
The primary aim of the project will be to develop and implement the theory
which is needed in order to predict and interpret experimental signals
associated with the detection of dynamical non-equilibrium structures via
X-ray scattering. The generation of molecular structures from
experimental data will take place in interaction with ongoing experiments
within the center.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree, and must be strongly motivated and have
a relevant background in (molecular) quantum dynamics and laser-matter
interaction. The position is funded for one year and available to all EU
citizens as well as non-EU citizens. The salary is approximately 50.000
Euro (before taxes).
