Astrobiology is a new and rapidly expanding field of science that aims to
understand the origin, evolution and diversity of life on Earth, and
investigate possible emergence of life elsewhere in the Universe. Four
departments at Stockholm University (Astronomy, Geology and geochemistry,
Molecular biology and functional genomics, and Physics) have recently
founded a joint graduate school in Astrobiology, which is due to commence 1
September 2006.
Students excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic multidisciplinary
environment are invited to apply. Successful applicants will enter PhD
programmes (4 to 5 years long) that include courses spanning the diversity
of astrobiology research.
