The Faculty of Science at Gothenburg University announces
PhD Positions in Experimental and Theoretical Nanoscience
Applications are invited for at least 6 PhD positions to be funded by the
newly established strategic research platform “Nanoparticles in Interactive
Environments” within the Faculty of Science at Göteborg University. The
research areas represented within the platform cover a broad range of
interdisciplinary experimental and theoretical topics in nanoscience
including nucleation and aggregation of nanoparticles and their
environmental impact, reactivity of nanoparticles and their
nanoelectromechanical properties. Although the successful applicants will be
enrolled as graduate students in either the physics or the chemistry
department and work towards a PhD in physics or chemistry, the research
projects are interdisciplinary with strong interactions and collaborations
between the two departments. Both experimental and theoretical projects are
available and candidates are requested to indicate any preferences they may
have.
More information concerning the aims and research areas of the strategic
platform can be obtained from the Platform Leader, Professor Eleanor
Campbell ([log in to unmask]) or from
http://fy.chalmers.se/~f3aec/Nanoparticles/home.htm
The positions are expected to be filled before 1st July 2006. A suitable
background is an academic degree in physics, chemistry, chemical physics,
engineering physics or chemical engineering. The positions are for a period
of four years, but will be extended to five years if, as expected, the
candidate works 20% with undergraduate teaching or administrative duties.
The application should be accompanied with a curriculum vitæ, copies of
examination certificates, a description of the applicant’s research
interests and the names, telephone numbers and email addresses of two
persons who could be asked for references.
Applications, should be sent to:
Nanoparticles Platform, Attn: Berit Augustsson,
Department of Physics
Göteborg University
SE-412 96 Göteborg.
The application is to be received no later than 8th May 2006.
Please mark the application with ref. nr. E334 3757/05.
