Raman Instrument Scientist
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly-motivated laser
scientist/spectroscopist to develop novel Raman-based technology. The
position will be based at the Central Laser Facility at the CCLRC
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, UK. The position is to
develop new technology and will have a significant commercial focus.
The job holder will be a part of a cross-disciplinary team and will be
responsible for developing technology within the Central Laser Facility.
The focus of the research will be to investigate and develop commercial-
applications for advanced Raman spectroscopy across a wide range of
disciplines. The selected candidate will posses a strong academic ability
as well as the ability to recognise and exploit developed technology
suitable for launching a spin-out company via opportunities through CLIK
Knowledge Transfer, the technology transfer arm of the CCLRC.
The job requires a highly motivated scientist with strong interpersonal
and communication skills and an independent outlook capable of working in
a team and delivering to tight deadlines. The candidate should hold at
least a BSc degree in physical/engineering sciences and preference will be
given to those able to demonstrate a research track record and/or PhD in
relevant areas. Experience in lasers, vibrational spectroscopy and
instrumentation is essential, though equally important is the ability to
drive research quickly. The contract will be for 12 months, but there may
be opportunities for the right individual in commercial applications of
the technology.
