The short course on 'Working with Interpreters' is a two day event organised
for medical doctors who work with interpreters to provide clinical services
for refugees and members of Black and Minority Ethnic groups. The course
equips health professionals with a framework to better manage their use of
the currently available interpreting services. Small group discussions and
problem solving sessions create a space for participants to discuss existing
expertise in working with interpreters, as well as acquire new skills in
dialogue with the course organisers and experienced interpreters. The course
organisers, Dr. Alex Argenti-Pillen

School of Psychology at UEL provide participants with a multi-disciplinary
perspective on working with interpreters. The programme has been designed in
collaboration with a Board of Advisors, and will run four times a year. This
short course on working with interpreters is intended to help to maintain
the highest possible standards of practice within Britain's multicultural
society.
