Subject: Summer School for nursing and midwifery PhD students from EU member
and accessing states
Dear Colleagues,
I have received a message from Ann Thomson, Professor of Midwifery, at the
University of Manchester, and previous editor, now Emeritus Editor, of the
international journal Midwifery.
Professor Ann Thomson is a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science
(EANS) (www.european-academy-of-nursing-science.com). Part of the
activities of EANS have been to run a Summer school for nurses and midwives
studying for a PhD. Ann and her colleagues have just been awarded an EU
grant for 4 years that will cover PhD students' travel and accommodation
costs. In the bid to the EU it is stated that there will be a place for one
person from each EU country and Accession State each year. She would like
to make sure that midwives know about this opportunity! If there is more
than one application from each country then names will be pulled out of a
hat.
I have sent her the up to date EMA address list so that she can make direct
contact with associations and representatives.
If you also know of any midwife studying for a PhD, please make sure that
they receive a copy of this message so that they can apply for a summer
school place.
Enquiries should be addressed to
