PhD Scholarship in History of Science, Technology or Medicine, 2006

The School of History is offering one Postgraduate Research Scholarship in
the area of History of Science, Technology or Medicine to new Home/EU
research students from September 2006.
This scholarship is available to Home/EU students only and will cover
tuition fees at the home rate and a small maintenance bursary. The School
of History is additionally offering one scholarship at approximately the
same rate as the Research Councils; the successful candidate will also be
automatically entered for this competition.
The scholarship will be offered for one year in the first instance,
renewable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic
progress.
Selection Criteria
The candidates must:
§ Hold an excellent bachelor's (1 or 2.1), or master's degree (merit
or distinction)
§ Hold an offer of a place, or be a currently registered student, for
a full-time research degree at the University of Kent. Candidates can make

§ Be able to contribute to seminar teaching on one or more modules
taught by the CHSTM (especially ‘Introduction to Literature and Science’).

§ proposal and competence for area of seminar teaching
§ CV
§ covering letter
§ two academic references.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Monday 14 August 2006.

interests and teaching areas to which they might contribute. Candidates
are reminded that an application will not be considered until all documents
have been received. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that
