We are delighted to announce that Professor Geoffrey Cantor (University
of Leeds) will present a seminar in the Leeds HPS Seminar Series on 3
May 2006, addressing the question 'Has "Science and Religion" Lost its
Way?'. The seminar will take place in the School of Philosophy,
University of Leeds (Baines Wing Room G36) at 3.15pm. Tea will be served
at 3 pm in the same room.
This replaces the previously advertised seminar by Professor David
Gooding (University of Bath) on 'Visual Models and Scientific
Explanation'. Professor Gooding has unfortunately been obliged to
withdraw due to circumstances beyond his control.

'[Science in the Nineteenth-Century Periodical] is a highly instructive
book to read, one that should reorient most readers' understandings of
how scientific knowledge was transmitted during the nineteenth century,
and one whose lessons about methods of scholarship of the period provide
a model for future research.' Anne Humpherys (Nineteenth-Century
Literature).
