The National Cataloguing Unit for the Archives of Contemporary
Scientists (NCUACS)
Research Officer
The NCUACS wishes to appoint a person to work on a three year
AHRC-funded resource enhancement project to catalogue and provide
electronic access to archives in the physical and mathematical
sciences. This project is a major initiative to preserve and make
accessible the archives of key twentieth-century scientists in such
areas as atomic physics, magnetic resonance imaging, radio astronomy
and ultra-low temperatures. It will illuminate their wider public
roles in respect of war, industry, environment and government and the
contributions of refugee and women scientists.
Applicants should hold a doctorate in the history of science or related
discipline, or a postgraduate qualification in archives administration
with at least two years’ post qualification cataloguing experience in a
project of equivalent status.
Starting salary will be up to £23,182 per annum.
