This is a one-day, workshop-style conference aimed at bringing together research students concerned with international HSTM. It addresses issues concerning the role of centres of innovation or construction of knowledge as well as associated periphery areas, in their identification, their interdependence, and their importance in shaping science, technology and medicine.
Attendance is free and limited to 35 places. Postgraduate students in the history of science, technology and medicine will have priority for attendance. To register, please download the registration form at http://www.ls.manchester.ac.uk/chstm/events/conferences/centre/
Professor Roy MacLeod, who will be in Oxford in the Spring of 2006, has agreed to be the keynote speaker for the conference. Professor MacLeod is the leading international authority on colonial science, especially in Australia and the Pacific Basin, and has written extensively on models of scientific relations. Professor Gavroglu of Athens and Dr Jankovic have also agreed to give talks at this conference. Other speakers will be drawn from HSTM postgraduate students from Britain and the rest of Europe.
