Perspectives and Problems: Innovation in the NHS
A Half Day Workshop organised by the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS),
the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHSTM)
and the ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition (CRIC) at
the University of Manchester as a contribution to the ESRC Social
Science Week 2006.
About the Workshop
The importance of innovation to the improved effectiveness and
efficiency of health care is widely recognised but less well understood.
The purpose of this half day seminar is to promote discussion and the
interchange of ideas and experience between health care managers,
practitioners and scholars working on the problems of medical innovation
and innovation processes in the NHS. The presentations will focus on
different aspects of medical and health care innovation and the seminar
will conclude with a round table discussion, question and answer session
on perspectives and problems relating to innovation in the NHS.
Date: Thursday 16th March 2006.
Time: The workshop begins at 2pm (Buffet lunch available from 1pm) and
will end at 5.30pm (followed by a drinks reception).
Venue: The Conference Suite, Institute of Innovation Research, 10th
Floor, Harold Hankins Building, Precinct Centre, University of
Manchester, Booth Street West, Manchester, M13 9QH.
