Researcher (Journalism and Emotional Literacy)

Bournemouth Media School at Bournemouth University seeks to appoint a
researcher to work on an AHRC-funded project on journalism and emotional
literacy.
The role will involve leading a study of how emotional literacy can be
developed in journalism training in the UK. The ideal candidate will have
experience or close knowledge of journalism, and familiarity with training
issues in relation to emotional dimensions of professional practice. The
research will consist of interviews and focus groups with journalists, and
some desk research on training curricula.
The project will be based in the School’s Centre for Public Communication
Research (www.cpcr.org.uk), and be directed by Professor Barry Richards,
Director of the Centre.
The post is available on a 15 month Fixed Term Contract from 1 May 2006 or
as soon as possible thereafter.
