Two research contract posts are available at the Department of Earth
Sciences, University of Cambridge, which may be of interest to subscribers
of the MCG list and their colleagues:
----------
Web-site designer-Map of Life Project
An experienced designer, with biological expertise, to construct a web-site
dedicated to the documentation and explanation of evolutionary convergence.
The individual will need to be familiar with an extensive biological
vocabulary, to engage in extensive data mining, and obtain relevant
permissions for use, especially of images. The web-site aims to provide the
world’s best source of examples of evolutionary convergence, and will be
extensively cross-referenced with examples ranging from molecular biology to
the evolution of societies.
Salary £20,044 - £22,289; post for up to 3 years.
Send CV to the Administrator e-mail [log in to unmask] and e-mails of 2
referees, ASAP.
----------
Post-doctoral worker - Evolutionary biologist - Map of life project
An evolutionary biologist, preferably with mathematical expertise, to
investigate the occupation of multidimensional biological “space” in order
to assess evolutionary convergence at all levels of biology, with possible
emphasis on either molecular and/or functional complexes in animals and
plants. The individual will also research the proportions of occupied
biological “space” and the construction of hypothetical alternatives.
Salary £25,565 - £27,929; post for up to 3 years.
Send CV to the Administrator e-mail [log in to unmask] and e-mails of 2
