Hi all
Just to let you know that the My Brighton and Hove website has been
re-launched at www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk
<http://www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk/> . I made a presentation about this
site to the MCG in 2003, describing how the award-winning and
self-sustaining community heritage site grew out of a museum exhibit in
1994. The 2500 page site is run purely by volunteers, and receives 20-30
online contributions of memories/photos etc a week, using a content
management system developed specifically for contributory heritage sites.
We're now making the CMS available at an affordable price to museums,
archives and local history groups through www.communitysites.co.uk
<http://www.communitysites.co.uk/> . Last week a site about the diverse
heritage of Watford was launched by Watford Museum using the same system
(see www.watfordjunction.org.uk <http://www.watfordjunction.org.uk/> ). If
anyone wants a demo, or is interested in setting up contributory heritage
sites, please contact me.
Best wishes
Jack Latimer
