This is a quick email to say that the "Institutional Web Management Workshop
2006: Quality Matters" 3 day workshop, to be held at the University of Bath
on 14-16 June, is almost full. This may mean that we may close bookings in
advance of the closing date (26 May). So if you are thinking of attending,
we suggest you submit your booking as soon as possible.
The workshop Web site is available at:
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2006/
Note that although the prime audience is the UK HE/FE sector, the workshop
will address areas which are of interest to members of the MCG list, and
which have been discussed recently.
Of particular interest may be plenary talks on "Developing a Web 2.0
Strategy", "Web 2.0: Behind the Hype", "Managing Standards - Delivering a
Quality Assured Web Environment", "Delivering Information: Document vs.
Content" and "What Does Openness Mean to the Web Manager?"
There will also be parallel sessions on "Writing for the Web" (by Jon
Pratty, 24 Hr Museum), "Getting your Hands Dirty with Podcasting", "Using
Web Services to Support e-Learning", "Keep SMILing", "Making RSS work in
your Institution", "The Rise and Rise of Digital Repositories: Communication
and Quality", "Archiving the Web: What can Institutions learn from National
and International Web Archiving Initiatives", "Sharing and Exploring Team
Knowledge with Wikis" and "FOUND IT! Using Information Architecture and Web
Management to Help the User Succeed and "Search Technology within the
University Environment".
Thanks
Brian
