Hi All,
It may be Friday but that is no excuse to let those little grey cells
idle away. A colleague has been getting some very odd and inconsistent
results for a search in Google using the the 'site:' command for a
particular web site. [Yes, I know - Google is erratic but all the
same...] I think I have worked out what is going on but I want to double
check and get some numbers to back it up.
If any of you have a few spare moments before dashing off to the pub
could you paste the following search into the box on Google's home page
and tell me what you get:
site:www.charity-commission.gov.uk "makes grants to organisations"
What I am interested in is:
1) Do you get 0 results? Or 1 to whatever of some ludicrous number of hits?
2) If you get 0, could you then click on the Advanced Search link and
tell me what Google has put where in the various boxes.
3) If you do get results are they from just the charity commission web site?
Also, if you have time, could you please run the same search in Yahoo
All will be revealed when I get some feedback to either confirm and
refute my hypothesis.
Karen
