WITH APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
Dear cataloguers of rare books,
Many thanks to those who commented on the UK Bibliographic Standards
Committee's draft response to RDA. Comments received were incorporated
in the submission, and it was excellent to be able to make the
submission more representative with your help.
It is now the turn of ISBD(A): International Standard Bibliographic
Description for Older Monographic Publications (Antiquarian), the code
on which AACR and DCRB (or RDA and DCRM(B) are based. These rules are
now being revised and are open to consultation, and the UK Bibliographic
Standards Committee of the CILIP Rare Books and Special Collections
Group will be coordinating a response from the British rare books
cataloguing community.
Information regarding the review process, a recapitulation of the
changes being proposed, and a link to the text itself, are available at:
http://www.ifla.org/VII/s13/pubs/Invitation4WWreview2-22-06.htm
If you have views on the rules, please send your comments to me (email:
[log in to unmask]) by the end of Friday, 31 March 2006. We should be
delighted to hear from the wider rare book cataloguing community in
Great Britain. In anticipation, THANK YOU!
