This is the kind of job which could be done by an enthusiastic LIS home
worker.....
And I'd certainly volunteer!

Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could have a current awareness service
for NHS librarians, with an RSS feed?
I've mulled this over with a couple of librarians in the past;.
Happy to bring this up for discussion within the service team in the new
year - once we have the new Head of service, leadership lead, and
Digital Librarians in place.
Meanwhile, I would love to hear from people with an interest in taking
this forward/contributing,

It strikes me that NHS librarians could do with their own version of the
Health Management Library Hot Topics and Briefing series. It would be
useful to know what's happening like this and where and when we will fit
in and give contact details for more information.
Perhaps when the NLH team is fully staffed they could pick this up?

Dear Zena
=20
Thank you for highlighting this project. This is an initiative in which
I have been involved for some time, on behalf of London Health
Libraries. It began with a feasibility study - Information & support
for Choice and the Public Library Service (report available from
http://www.health-link.org.uk/Publications_1.htm) In short, the main
focus of the pilots will be in public libraries, as places where the
public naturally go for trusted, neutral advice. Health librarians will
be available to assist their public library colleagues should any
queries arise during a "transaction" in the public library which
requires some more detailed explanation.
=20
At this pilot stage, we do not envisage health librarians being heavily
involved, but this project does have potential to position ourselves
strategically as the "choice agenda" gathers momentum. As for training,
the pilots will not be starting until the New Year and training (for
both public and health library staff) will be happening next month. =20
=20
Hope this helps - can provide further information if you wish

Good morning, everyone, from a damp & drear Chelmsford! My colleague
passed me this item of interest; and I am curious. Is anyone on these
lists involved in this pilot? Is anyone a "choice-trained librarian"? If
so, of what did the training consist?
cheers -=20
