Hello All,
I wonder if anyone can help me find some ethereal Medline records!
I am producing an Ovid Medline manual to accompany training sessions and I am explaining the effect of exploding a MeSH term, using 'diabetes mellitus' as the example. Pre- and post-exploding gives the following numbers:
diabetes mellitus/ 20553
exp diabetes mellitus/ 86420
To show where these figures come from I have taken a screen shot of the MeSH tree, which gives the following numbers:
diabetes mellitus 20553
- diabetes mellitus, experimental 8133
- diabetes mellitus, Type 1 19234
- Wolfram Syndrome 116
- diabetes mellitus, Type 2 28480
- diabetes mellitus, lipoatrophic 91
- diabetes, gestational 1968
- diabetic ketoacidosis 1105
- prediabetic state 428
If you take the time to add up all the figures you get 80108 (I've checked, twice). So my question is, where do the other 6,312 records come from to give 86420 for 'exp diabetes mellitus'
Thanks, in anticipation of floods of answers,
Paul
