Hello Lucy
The Essex Health Information Skills Trainers teach a course on 'How to find healthcare information on the Internet' (see http://www.eel.nhs.uk/eel/skillstrainingcourse02.htm). It does include tips on Googling and on evaluating Internet resources, and then goes on to point out quality resources. We've noticed that this course is quite popular with staff.

Hi
I have a question about info skills training, NHS staff and Google.
Has anyone ever advertised a training course as 'Google hint and tips' or similar? - Did you get a good response and what was the feedback like?
Do you use Google in training sessions? I often get asked about searching using Google and end up giving some hints and tips out at the end of training sessions.
I was thinking of marketing a Google session with the limits of Google discussed and hopefully increasing use of NHS ejournals, NLH etc.
I think I could increase the awareness and use of library services at my Trust by offering a Google session, and could also save the time of a Googler by pointing them in the direction of quality resources.
Has anyone got any strong views about this?
I will let you know if we decide to do this and report the results to the list.
Lucy
