Improving Your Information Skills - New for 2007

At the end of this unit participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate an ability to analyse own information needs
- Develop an effective information search strategy
- Critically evaluate information.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of information literacy
This unit covers the following subjects:
- Recognising a need for information.
- Identifying types of information suitable for given purpose.
- Locating appropriate information resources
- Identifying key concepts.
- Planning search activities
- Evaluating resources and providing evidence to support choice
- Issues which impact upon the way information is used.
- Filtering and selecting information
- Analysing the skills associated with information literacy
- Producing examples of how technology has changed use of information
