In response to requests for Journal Citation Reports training we are pleased to
announce that Thomson Scientific will be running a series of WebEx based
training sessions /classes on JCR. A number of dates are available and we hope
that you will be able to register for one of these events.  We are also pleased
to announce that all class attendees will be entered into a free draw for a
chance to win an Ipod Nano.

Course Description:
Journal Citation Reports on the Web (JCR) is a unique multidisciplinary research
tool used for journal evaluation. It provides access to quantifiable statistical
data that supplies a systematic, objective way to determine the relative
importance of journals within their subject categories. This training will help
you use JCR Web to:

- Discover high-impact journals (The Impact Factor)
- Develop and manage journal collections
- Find which journals are cited most quickly (the "hottest" journals)
- Identify journals relevant to a particular area of research
- Determine a journal's subject orientation and its peer or competitor
publications
- Print, save or export data into spreadsheets for convenient and timesaving
reporting

Who is the training for?
This training is suitable for Librarians, Information Specialists, Researchers,
Faculty

Requirements
WebEX training offers live, interactive training from your computer. To attend a
class you will need a computer with Internet access and a phone. Please be aware
that we recommend that you refer to the Minimum System Requirements which can be
found at the end of this email.

How to register
Below are the URLs that will link you to the WebEx registration page for each
class. To attend any class you must first register for it by clicking the
relevant link in order to see more information and to complete the registration
details. Once you have registered for the meeting, you will receive a
confirmation message and email confirming your registration. This message will
provide you with the information that you need to join the meeting as well as
the UK toll free number to call for the teleconference.

Minimum system requirements

Minimum requirements for Windows:
Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000, or XP
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, 6, or Netscape 4.7
JavaScript and cookies enabled in the browser
56K or faster Internet connection

Minimum requirements for Java Meeting Manager on Windows:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, or Netscape 4.7

Minimum requirements for Macintosh OS:
Mac OS 10.2.x or later
PowerPC Macintosh (G3 or better)
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.4 or Safari 1.1 or later
JavaScript and cookies enabled in the browser
64 MB RAM
QuickTime installed
Virtual memory on

First time attendees will be prompted to install the WebEx Meeting Manager. This
one time, automated installation usually takes just a few seconds with a
high-speed Internet connection. (It can take up to several minutes using a
dial-up connection to the Internet.)
