Dear Colleagues,
As our collections of DVDs grows rapidly, so does their use. Our DVDs are
housed on shelving which was probably designed for books rather than light
DVD cases, so when a large number of DVDs are borrowed, it is very
difficult to stop the cases left on the shelves from sliding around on the
slippery metal shelves and quickly becoming out of sequence. Bookends and
strips of grey bobbly tape which are designed to provide a rough surface to
improve the chances of cases staying upright have proved ineffective, so I
wonder if any colleagues have any other solutions (short of investing in
new purpose built storage). Someone mentioned a German product
called 'Filebrush' which allows DVD and CD cases to remain in place, and I
wonder if anybody has come across this product, and if so, whether it is
effective. Failing that, any other suggestions from colleagues would be
most welcome. Please reply to me rather than to the list: I will provide a
summary of responses in due course.
Best wishes,
Damien McManus
