b) New Release of Engineering Village 2
--------------------------------------
On February 1, 2006 a new release of Engineering Village 2 went live on
the platform. The changes related to the enhancements should not impact
core functionality of the product but they are improvements to features
on the platform. These product enhancements include:
Search Facets Added:
Ei has included more facet categories to enable users to easily refine
their search results even further. The categories to be added to the
existing facets within our bibliographic databases Compendex, Inspec and
NTIS are:
Author Affiliation- View the top institutions publishing in the subject
searched
Country (Author Country of Origin)- Isolate one or more countries and
focus your search.
More De-duplication Options:
Ei has improved the functionality of Engineering Village 2's
De-duplication feature. This new functionality allows the researcher to
see the total number of found records in a search, how many records are
found in each database, and how many records were removed. Users will
have the ability to choose the priority of the database when
de-duplicating records.
Ei Patents on Engineering Village 2:
Ei Patents is an exciting new product that is now available for
subscription on the Engineering Village 2 platform. By adding this
product to your suite of Engineering Village 2 offerings, you can
provide your engineering research community access to over 80% more
technical information that is not available in traditional bibliographic
databases. Ei Patents is designed to enhance students' and researchers'
ability to conduct searchers that encompass a more complete view of the
scientific and technical literature in their area of interest. Ei
Patents combines patents, bibliographic data sources and Engineering
Village 2's intelligence tools providing a more meaningful base of
scientific and technical knowledge not available with free web patent
searching tools.
To learn more about these product enhancements, please visit the article
in the latest issue of the Ei Update What's New.

c) Free Resource From EBSCO
-----------------------------
EBSCO Publishing is making available the 'Library, Information Science &
Technology Abstracts' (LISTA) database as a free resource to anyone
interested in libraries and information management. This bibliographic
database provides coverage on subjects such as librarianship,
classification, cataloguing, bibliometrics, online information
retrieval, information management and more. Delivered via the EBSCOhost
platform, LISTA indexes more than 600 periodicals plus books, research
reports, and proceedings. With coverage dating back to the mid-1960s, it
is the oldest continuously produced database covering the field of
information science. This resource is freely available at
<www.libraryresearch.com> and it can also be added to your EBSCOHost
profile if you subscribe to other EBSCO databases. Please contact Chris
Atkinson <mailto:[log in to unmask]> if you would like this to be
added.
d) Eduserv Chest Needs Your Help
---------------------------------
Eduserv Chest is currently looking at products which may be of interest
to universities and their affiliated NHS partners. We are beginning
negotiations for the renewal of the Agreement for STAT!Ref, the
electronic Medical Library, (current agreement period ends on 31st July
this year) and need to develop a pricing model which will benefit
academic institutions and their NHS partners. To this end, we need to
establish which universities have affiliated sites, how many and their
sizes (total size and potential number of users of electronic
resources). We would therefore ask you to email the Eduserv Chest
helpdesk <mailto:[log in to unmask]> with:
The name of your institution;
Names of affiliated sites - and their legal status and relationship to
the academic institution;
Total numbers in affiliated sites;
Potential number of users in each.
New STAT!Ref Agreement
-------------------------
The make-up of the STAT!Ref Agreement may change depending on the
requirements of potential licensees. One of the options we are
considering is the ability to licence by discipline. To see a current
list of STAT!Ref resources by discipline please go to
<http://www.statref.com/PDFs/ResourcebyDiscipline.pdf> The full list of
titles, now including the Oxford textbooks, is available at
<http://www.statref.com/ourproducts/libraries/onlineTitles.htm>
If you are interested in particular areas or even particular titles
which may be grouped to form a collection please contact the Chest
Helpdesk with your ideas/wishes.
