The Royal College of Surgeons of England is one of the world's leading surgical institutions committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical care. The Library and Information Services department manages the College's significant deposited collections dating from the 17th century, and the College Archives containing records dating back to the College's establishment in 1800 (See our website: www.rcseng.ac.uk/library/collections/archives.html)
Your role will be to assist the Records and Archives Manager to provide archive services to our users. Key tasks will include answering enquiries, invigilating archive users in the library reading room, sorting and cataloguing, promoting our collections to new and existing audiences, and assisting in the preservation of collections.
You will have a good first degree and a post-graduate qualification in archives/records management. You should have a thorough knowledge of ISAD(G), NCA Rules and other international standards related to archives, together with knowledge of current archival principles and procedures. You should also have a good understanding of relevant archive and records legislation and how it relates to the archive and records management working environment.
